Laos Border Crossing policy amendment
Information gleaned from GTR website, bottom of page 3
At a meeting in Vientiane on 10th January 2024 it was agreed that there needs to be a policy / rule change, especially in Visit Laos Year 2024. I will update this when the translation is done https://www.gt-rider.com/se-asia-mot...-3#post-107184 Wayne |
Thanks for posting, Wayne. It's great to see officials are paying attention to the issue of temporary motorcycle imports into Laos.
It appears this meeting was spurred primarily by Thai-Lao border crossings. Any idea whether revised TIP policies will apply to all Lao borders? I'm looking forward to seeing the English translation. -D.T. |

I am not sure whether it will apply to all borders, hopefully once the English translation is out we shall know more. Otherwise I can ask the question on the other forum Wayne |
The rough translation is out, it’s on the same link in my first post

I went now from Laos where I have left the bike in workshop. They said me that every days out of expiration date of temporary importation, it s fine with 5 US $/day. Someone could confirm that? I red on my TIP that there is a fine of 4000 Us $... I could pick back the bike only in february, so a packet's days after the expiration s date... Some suggestions to manage it? Some fixer available? thanks |
