Sorry No Go
Hi Foristwiz,
I have asked the question and the guide still says that bikes can not use the motorways so we can not go together sorry. We are now a 2 vehicle convoy setting off from Laos/China border on the 13th June 2017 |
Hi Dave
I think it not advisable to mix cars and bikes if you wish to drive on the Toll rides in China. To say that Motorbikes are BANNED on ALL toll roads in China is incorrect. Yunnan is so so with bikes on Toll roads due mainly to the fact that so many tours come up from Thailand? Sichuan province can be problematic at times, were most ring roads around Beijing is ok but you have to pay. Some other provinces are very strict and just a few weeks ago I was chased by the police on a toll road. Here is a recent picture of me riding on the Toll roads in China http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/...pskfqmkacu.jpg Quote:

Video
Here is a video was shown on Chinese TV last year.
Just a quick translation on what is said. 1. The reporter talks about seeing a Motorbike paying and entering a Toll road. 2. She then asked people about are motorbikes allowed on the Toll roads? All say NO. 3. A lady who works at the Tollbooth says ok for motorbikes. 4. No sign to show Motorbikes are not allowed 5. The policeman tells the reporter, YES motorbikes are allowed but must stay in the right-hand land can't go slower than 50km and no faster than 70km and must wear a crash helmet. 6. The big bike riders say all ok but you have to pay same as a small car. The Toll road report was for Hubei province and the reporter closes by saying if this is legal in Hubei province why not in other Provinces ?? link to video... http://vid1360.photobucket.com/album...psebtcg2he.mp4 So now you all have it. And I hope it clears this matter up once and for all http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/...psebtcg2he.mp4 |

Well we made it back to Europe, with only a couple of problems, so good luck to anybody following.
