Malaysia and Indonesia
 

Hi Everyone

I am driving my bike with Carnet from Thailand (drove from Switzerland) to Kuala Lumpur and wanted to leave it there, then fly to Indonesia.
Anyone know if I can leave the country by air and leave the bike parked in Kuala Lumpur for a few weeks?

Actually you need to contact the right authorities in Malaysia for the right answer.

I had the same question coming up for myself - but in Australia. I brought a bike into Australia on a carnet and wanted to go back to Europe for christmas and new year. Several people told me this wasnt allowed and bla bla bla. However I contacted the right authorities in Australia about the question and they said of course you can leave the country for a while and come back and pick up your bike and continue the trip.

Anyhow I dont think the carnet are connected to your passport - so nobody will know anything about it and thus nobody can deny you to do so. But dont let your carnet expire while youre in another country....

I've sent emails to Tourist Board in Malaysia hoping they will point me in the right direction. I'll post here once I get a definite answer.
Hoping to see the Komodo dragons soon :)

Also emailed customs, no reply. Anyone any ideas as to which authoritiy I should be annoying?
