Malaysian Airlines Airfreight....
Hey Hey.
Looking at flying my bike from KL to CDG and am getting funny stuff of KL. 3 different email addresses giving me 3 different prices... nevermind though. Anyway, myself lacking a freight forwarder, the Malaysian Airline dude (Alwee) said I could literally drive my bike to them and we would park it on the bike, tie it down and throw some cardboard around it. In Paris I should be able to drive off, happy days... Anyone ever here over airfreight like this? No crate or box? Good idea or bad? Bike is an R80GS Cheers Max |
I flew my GS1150 from Vancouver to Munich on a pallet with cling wrap. Minimal stuff to the bike other than disconnect battery, drain most of fuel, take off mirrors/screen. Panniers were left on.
Arriving in Munich at 3.30pm on a friday, I was riding my bike out the airport by 5.30pm, super straight forward and easy. Cost was $1700 canadian in 2007 so not a cheap option. If you're not in a hurry for your bike at the other end, I'd stick it on a boat in Port Klang. |
