I just organised a tour to cross on the 13th of April. I may be going alone or may be with a couple of guys who are coming into Thailand on the 31st. I've already booked though, unfortunately the time was ticking and I needed to make a decision. You're welcome to join if you don't have a tour organised yet - it will be very cheap but only 6 days. Also, it will be new year for them, so there could be some interesting celebrations going on!

Wish you all the best,
Jason

Hi all, I'm in the process of planning my trip from the uk to NZ starting May next year. I've heard today through a reputable travel company that if you enter Myanmar you HAVE to exit through the same border you entered. Meaning in my case I'm prevented from travelling through to Thailand from India.
Is this reality?

Hi Bazza,
I dont know for sure if this is new ...,, as thats the first I have heard of that ?

Unless it's just changed, the info seems incorrect judging from what I have watched and read recently of ;quite a few you tube vlogs and blogs of recent 2017 travellers on overland internationally registered motorcycles entering Myanmar -
via India, then travelling through Myanmar (with guides) and finishing their Myanmar tour via exiting with their bikes through to Thailand.

No this is not the reality. Myanmar opened up for overlanders in 2013 and since then travellers have been allowed to cross the country if they have the neccesary permits and the mandatory guides. India to Thailand or opposite Thailand to India.
I think there was a short stop in the overland crossing due to some internal conflicts in India near the Myanmar-India border a while ago but it seems to be open now.
