We manage to arrange all vehicle papers, insurance and travel permit including insurance for 200 Usd application fee and 125 Usd / day (for the compulsary local guide, his food, accommodation etc) as long as you have 1 seat in your car. A visa is easily applied for online: https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/

This means that a 7 days trip from india to Thailand with 2 vehicles and 4 person costs 1075 Usd in total.

Hi Edwin, i know its an old thread, but who knows what going on now, are you still working from Myanmar ?? And are their predictions to reopening the TAMU-border with India this year ?? I heard the Mae-sot border with thailand is open ?? My plan is to do overlandtrip and arriving probably in TAMU in november !! If you are sure this will not be open anymore this year, please tell me also, i dont want to have fake-hope and lose time to arrange other options. Thanks in advance !!

Are you still based in Myanmar and working in this field? We will be crossing from India to Thailand in 2025, with two or possibly three bikes in our group and I'm trying to work out in advance how to do this, what documents we will need for the bikes etc. I realise that costs will almost certainly change between now and when we actually get there. Can we nominate a local guide, or does this have to be done by the government?

Hi there. Did you succeed in getting through Myanmar a few months back? I’m trying to get definitive information now, and struggling. Best I can make out the Myanmar-India border is still closed, meaning overlanding isn’t possible. If that’s the case I need another way around or over.

I’d prefer “through Myanmar” if possible, and otherwise I guess it is through China, a boat to India, or a plane across. What are thought to be the current best approaches?

Thanks in advance. I’m new to overlanding (on my first long trip –*from Melbourne Aus to London UK), and new to this forum.

Cheers, Daniel
