The Le Bons Bay Backpackers on Banks Peninsula has great people, fab views of the farm it's on, and the best food of any backpackers i have ever been to. You can go fishing with the owners for your dinner, help in the garden if you want to or go down to the bay to swim.

The Le Bons Bay Backpackers was indeed a great spot, but unfortunately it has closed down (the owners are taking some time for themselves!). However, all is not lost: for those of you who venture onto the magnificant Banks Peninsula, may I reccommend Chez La Mer Backpackers in Akaroa town. It is a great place to spend a few nights... and biker friendly!
