UK camping sites, comprehensive list (Rest of Europe in here as well)
I've come across this website which appears to provide a big list of campsites in the UK:-
The UK Camp Site for Tent and Caravan Campers in the UK (Nothing to do with me and I guess there are other sites that do a similar thing) So, I am posting it here as a start point for narrowing down a campsite location that may be of use for bikes, or others who are travelling, rather than going for the 5* site that takes only "statics". It's a biggish website and it may have lots more, but it has a couple of what may be really useful bits thus -- Pubs with campsites:- Pubs with Campsites - UK Camp Site Articles Sites which permit fires:- Campsites which allow fires, fire advice - UK Camp Site Articles I guess anyone who has already been to one of these places, or gets to one in the future, can "review" the specific site on this thread or write up a new one about it. Edit: Here's the sites that have wifi (for those who can't get anyway from their computer):- Campsites or Caravan Parks with Wifi Internet Access - UK Camp Site Articles Thing is this bit of the main webpage is full of information about overseas/European campsites, including a biggish list for France. Put those last 3 together and we can have paradise :rolleyes2: -- the campsite outside a pub, with a fire burning and your laptop downloading the latest whatsit. |
Nature Camps - Holland
Great thread.
Below a website of natural camping in Holland. I am assured this does not mean you have to take you're clothes off, rather that these are nice country based campsites. Natuurkampeerterreinen Very handy website. |
Hey thanks Walkabout - great idea - I did start writing reviews of biker friendly camp sites a couple of years ago - but I got distracted with Russia.
The ones I did write are over here Reviews ยป The London Biker I reckon between us all we could put together a pretty comprehensive review list could we not? I also happen to have a handy URL... The London Biker (not used at the moment - I owned this WAY before Nick did a TV series of the same name) m |
Oh Dear!
Matt, Matt, Matt.
Normally what comes out of your mouth is sensible and considered, but I was really shocked to read you review of the New Forest campsite. specifically with reference to the speed limit in the Forest. As a New Forest resident I could not believe you bragged of doing 90 in a 40 zone and complained about the stupid speed limit. About 100 New forest animals (deer, donkeys, horses, cows etc etc ) are killed each year due to motorists considering themseves above the speed limit. Please remember the new forest is a special environment because of the speed limit and the animals that live in it. I love the forest and using it facilities, and use them all the time, and would encourage people to share them - sensibly! Anyway I'm sure this must have just been a rush of blood to the head or the enthusiasm of youth. Hopefully you will not treat local environments with such disrespect on your trip to Russia! Sorry to bring a downer to the thread :( |
sorry Ollie - it was some time ago - I've matured in my attitude to speed since then.... I hang my head in abject shame :innocent:

Deer, donkeys, horses and cows all make delicious and nourishing pies, mmm... lovely. Matt get back out there and do your best, Ginsters need the meat!
|
If the meat went into proper cornish
If the meat went somewhere proper other than ginsters I'd be encouraging Matt myself!
BTW I sometime run in the new forest, so I'm often breaking the speed limit!!!!! :eek3: |
If it's road kill then cook it on the campfire, unless it's Ollie - he might be a bit stringy
