Occupying space in the Hubb !
Hi Ralf & Eva,
Is it really nacessary to occupy so much columns and space in the Hubb? Would be better if you shortly write all of the cities within one thread only. Anybody interested within the route could reply it. Infact Grant and/or moderator should write/say this but couldn't stand it. I think we all must be careful about this site/place which we all gather and share everything and is really like our nest/home. Can call it too emotional but I feel this way. Sorry for that. Don't take it personal but when I make a mistake someone does/should also warn myself. You write in German, it is ok but why you say there is a translation in your website. If you understand my post you could write your post in English. Sorry Grant but do we have a regulation for this space and language situations? Please forgive me for this unpolite warn. I felt responsible for that. ____________________ If I don't know I make something wrong, I must feel happy when somebondy warns me. In Rome, do as Romans do. |

Samy: When I saw those posts first I had the same reaction, but later, after I thought about it for a while, it's probably much more convient this way. After some time they only show when people search for them (or keep replying to the original post). By that time it's nicer when you search for a place in zimbabwe you don't have to shift through all those other places (starting with angola). [oops! they didn't went to zimbabwe, sorry!] The big plus with posting them like this IMHO: It's now very easy for everybody to update or correct the given information and even give additional info and opinions in a very handy form displayed and grouped together in one topic per country. BTW (hope Grant will correct me gently if I'm wrong) In the background this forum mainly consits of textfiles which don't take up lots of space, tho 1 topic with 10 replies take less space than 11 individual topics with no reply, the differences is not very much. regards |

I've saved the information. Ralf & Eva - thanks for starting it |
thanks !
I knew I forgot something: Thank you Ralf & Eva for sharing this info! & happy travels!
BTW I wouldn't mind to delete this postings (our postings) later on (after all agreement or something), to clean this thread abit and put it back on topic. |
Great info. Many thanks. Format is good for me.

Hotel in Djibouti City
Auberge Sable Blanc
N11 36.058 E43 08.876 Possibly the cheapest sleeping option in Djibouti that also has safe parking. It is some 10-15 minutes walk away from the centre and the service is so-so, but the room was clean, had AC, bathroom, and very near is the Club Ethiopien that has good Ethiopian food and beer in the evenings. Room is 7000 Djibouti francs, no discounts available. (The above mentioned Hotel France was willing to lower the price from 10 000 to 9 000 Djibouti francs after bargaining, but the rooms are shabby and the plumbing is not working) |
Sheraton Hotel
The Sheraton Hotel might let you camp for free in the car park if you ask the Director, Yanick, a swiss guy, VERY nicely. I stayed for a week, lovely staff, you can use the toilets and showers by the pool..... The car park is quite quite and right next to the ocean so you get some breeze etc.
As ever, don't abuse this kindness ;-) |
