Finding budget accommodation with parking in Malaysia is a huge pain, but if you're desperate just rock up to the local polis station and ask if you can leave your bike there overnight. We've done this many times all over the country, and in each case the cops were very accommodating.

Just as an update that the following places mentioned by RalEva in 2006 still existed when we visited in the beginning of 2010:
- Ideal Travellers House in Kota Bharu. We paid MR 35 for a double with attached bathroom and a balcony. The place is clean, the management friendly, and there is WiFi (worked well in the room!) at a small additional price. - Cameronian Inn in Tanah Rata. We paid MR 40 for a tiny double room with a shared bathroom. Also the Pujangga Homestay in Kuala Lumpur mentioned in another thread is still there. We paid MR 70 for an air-conditioned double with a shared bathroom, but there is WiFi. Some bike friendly options not listed elsewhere: Penang New Banana Guesthouse N5 25.127 E100 20.161 Room prices vary a lot - a double with attached bathroom was MR 80, with shared bathroom MR 60. The staff are super friendly and if you're lucky you'll be able to catch WiFi in your room. Parking in the video-surveillanced back yard. Cherating Coconut Inn N4 07.553 E103 23.468 Bungalows with attached bathroom from MR 30. Be prepared for mosquito invasion! (have mosquito coils ready!) Quiet place, parking right in front of your bungalow. |

If you are planning to fly your bike somewhere else and it needs to be spotless then "Moon Eleven " house hostel is perfect if you don,t mind a dorm. I found the place on the Hostel.com website address No 9 Jalan Kota Warisan , Permai 2/5 ,Kuala Lumpur Its a House Hostel that caters to passengers in transit from flights. Close to the airport. Has good area to hose down etc or work on your bike under veranda and in a safe area. was 40 Ringgits a night. |
