I rode around cidade alta looking for a place to park the bike, safely, no joy, narrow streets, old buildings etc.
Found a great Pousada in Barra south of center
60 reais, not the cheapest but worth every centavo, Easy access for bike, lovely rooms, amazing breakfast, very hospitable owner.

easy to locate, street runs paralell to coast road , just as it turns up north towards centro.

....found another one I have to mention, as I can´t leave!!

single rooms start at 35 reais including yet again a b´fast to die for.
parking for bikes under cover, with space to work, or you can bring them in if you want
selection of books in many languages, music , great company, great beach... heaven.
