If you are going to Santiago with or without bike this is the place to go. I had a really good time here. They have got parking, nice showers, WiFi, a store that is near and it's cheap. What more can you ask for?

They are like family for me now and I will definitely go back there later on my trip.

I feel the same as the original message. I've spent maybe 2 months on and off at Casa Matte and can't recommend it enough as a place to stay. Christian and Francisca are fantastic hosts and great fun. It's like a big home, not a hostal. Big terrace upstairs too with a view to the mountains.
I had problems with my KLR when I first arrived so it helped immensely meeting Christian and the other bikers staying there too as they knew who to see and where to go for parts, aduana/customs, etc.
I'll be back there when I return. Not only because I've left my bike with them whilst I left Chile...

Will be leaving my 'home' in Santiago again tomorrow. Was here a few weeks ago on my way south.
As above, THE place to stay in Santiago. Great atmosphere, place to work on your bike, nice rooms and always a hot shower, great roof terrace to watch the sun sets, close to shops/supermarket/restaurants.
Lira St is a short ride away to get your Moto goodies. Christian & Francesca are great hosts. If you need some work doing on your bike, Christian will know a man who can.
