La Luna 4km out of town direction Lagunas Mojanda. starting at 7 Dollar pP. Great double rooms, fireplace, restaurant. Camping for 2 $ pP possible. Great view. safe parking guarded by 6 large dogs In town Otavalo Rincon de la Viajero Double for 14 Dollar. Very nice. Fireplace. Right parallel to the mercado. safe bike parking. shared and private bath Quito Of course Ricardo Roccos Moto Guest House http://www.andesmoto-tours.com/moto_hostel_ecuador.htm Cotopaxi. U have to pay 10 Dollar park fee, but then u can drive the dirt road all the way up to the Refugio. Just the last 300m are a little more difficult. U can camp everywhere there, but there are also campgrounds in the park. 10 Dollar pP in the Refugio. Its worth it, but be aware, camping is on 4000m, refugio on 4800m Quilotoa Hostal Mama Pacha (opposite the path to the crater), parking in front of the entrance, fairly safe, very welcoming family. 3 Dollar pP Latacunga later Banos if u want a really nice relaxing place in town: Hostal Villa Santa Clara. Double starting at 14$ (7 p.P.), but it is really, really nice. private clean bathroom. bargaining possible. Triple available Riobamba Hotel Tren Dorado (right by the train station). Garage under Hotel. nice double or triples, about 8 $ pP. Very nice and friendly. private bath Salinas near Guaranda great town, take the factory tour. Hostal EL Refugio. only Hostel in town. 6 Dollars pP safe parking Cuenca Hotel Pichincha, Calle Simon Bolivar 4,75 Dollar pP. Cheap, clean. safe Parking at sister Hotel Hostal Pichincha (but that costs 24 Dollars for double room). Vilcabamba Hosteria Izhcayluma safe parking, dorm 8 Dollar little expensive but great food, incredible view and directly on the road to the border. Hostal Oasis s/d 8/16$(10 de Agosto at Almargo)is also a good option. It's a littel bit out of center but a nice welcome place. Safe Bike parking. If you like to make the train tour to Simbabe the owner will take you to the station. Zumba: If you don´t want to make all the way down to San Ignacio (bad road condition etc.) you can stay in the Chincha Hotel (on the other side of Comercial Zumba). You can park your Bike down the street, to the left (road to Peru), on the right hand side is a littel bicicle shop. This property belongs to the Hotel owner. You can park your Bike safe there. Hotel Viena Internacional (Flores 600 at Chile)
Perhaps not the cheapest option with 16,8 USD per person, but it is in a good location in the historical center, and exactly what Lonely Planet says - the rooms are spotless and nicely designed (with spacy cupboards in the wall to put all your stuff away), and the service is very good. There is no breakfast though and no internet connection either. They say the balcony rooms are noisy, but at night it is actually very quiet. Interior courtyard for secure parking. $13 per night (March 2009). Clean, friendly staff. Cable TV. Block off town square and about 5 blocks from the Plaza de Ponchos (market). Rooms at the back are more quiet, and have a view of Imbabura and other mountains. My room (204) had three beds. Restaurant: desayuno $2, almuerzo $3 includes soup, main course and dessert. I stayed there for 3 weeks. |

Hostal Continetal parking - garage, Park near the entrance if you plan to leave early or they will block you in with cars, not covered water is hot (tank), but fairly low pressure. Ecuador Banos
Hostal Chimenea in Banos, the best hostal we have stayed in in South America!!!! Its not in any of the guide books yet, rooms are spotless, great hot showers, ours overlooked the waterfall, $8.50 per person, honesty bar with large beers for$1.
Secure parking in the quieter part of town near the baths. I expect the prices to rise when they get in the guide books |
