21% vat on accomodation...?!
Hi,
Looked in the web, but not found a clear answer... Must tourist pay 21% vat tax on hotels etc? I've read about an executive order of the Argentinian president (announced at the end of september 2016) that says tourist will get automatic back the 21% vat payd on hotels if they pay with credit card. Tomorrow I will pay my hotel and the owner told me that travellers are confused and all the world has to pay vat here....mmmm. It seems not to be any law, but only that executive order (So I assume it's valid from that moment, isn't it? I don't know). And what about my 21% if I pay cash? Any experience with that? |
I only know how it works in Chile.
There, only few hotels don't charge forgeign tourists the rate without VAT. Smaller hotels are not registered for that and have to charge locals and foreigners the same, the price incl. VAT. No idea about argentina. Groschi |
If you'd like some karmic balance, we've paid 10% VAT all through our stays in Italy, something to the tune of 500 EUR this year. No refunds offered or expected. :D
Enjoy being a stereotypical rich tourist! "Refundo? jajaja LOL amigo!" |
I dont care while wild camping :D
