Advice for bike hire/travel in Argentina
Hi,
I'm after some advice. 2 friends are riding XT600's from LA to BA ( www.wrongwayround,com ), and I'm thinking of joining them for the last 2 weeks of the trip. My plan - fly to BA, rent a bike ( http://www.motocare.com.ar/rental ), ride 1000kms or so to Mendoza, hook up with my mates, then take 2 weeks to ride back to BA via Iguazu Falls. I have a few concerns: 1. I don't speak Spanish (yet - got 4 weeks to do a crash course I suppose!) - will I make it to Mendoza ok? 2. Anyone know anything about hiring a bike in BA? 3. I've not got much off road riding experience - will this matter in Argentina between Mendoza and BA? 4. Travelled (a bit by bike) in Africa, SE Asia, and western countries, but never been to South America - am I mad to consider this, or should I just go for it? Cheers for any advice you can give, Mark [This message has been edited by mark s (edited 04 October 2005).] [This message has been edited by mark s (edited 04 October 2005).] |
Hi Mark
1- you don’t need to speak Spanish or at list some words and number, you can learn some here and safe your money. 2- At list what I know Motocare is the only one around Bs.As. to hire a bike, cost around U$ 60.- by day and you need to book in advance (they don’t have to many bikes) and on the season are very busy, sand a mail to Mariano (the owner) right now if you are sure to do it. 3- You don’t need off road experience on the way between Mendoza and Buenos Aires, is a national road whit good asphalt and if you want to take others secondary roads you have a lot to chose. 4- Yes you are mad but only for come two weeks, is not enough ….
