Sorry, can't help you with Motocare. but I know that the BMW dealer here rents BMWs (Rentamoto) and I have corresponded with a few folks that have been pleased with their service. No personal experience with them other than shopping for riding gear and they were very helpful and friendly.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check them out. Am really interested in motocare as they are quite a bit cheaper (transalps versus bmw). Thanks for the option.

Motocare is great

Sojourner1979, although I have not rented from Mariano at Motocare, I have known him for more than two years and made many referrals to him for moto repair. recently Doug.... here is his web site:
http://dougsmotorcyclediary.com/ Doug and many others gave excellent marks for the work and the way they were treated at Motocare...... I also know Motocare rents to other tour guides like Frank in Salta. Mariano is fluent in English and a very intelligent, well informed man. I trust him and would reccommend renting from him. He is the only, or one of the very few that rent motos in Buenos Aires without sending a guide along.

Mariano referred us to a very creative rack/pannier man, who out fitted our Hondas, an NX400 and a XR250 to carry all our gear. I would also reccommend Pato located a couple blocks from Motocare for any frame work etc.

Mariano helped us plan our 5 country 12,000 K tour and I knew I could count on him if we needed help. He also gave some excellent advice about routes and contacts.

We are expats USA and Spain now living in Buenos Aires. Ed and Elisa, two red Hondas Let's get together when you are in Buenos Aires...or Viedma etc...

Thanks xfiltrate

That's what I'm looking to hear. I've read the same from other sources. I'm definitely leaning towards motocare at this point in time. Sent them an email and if I don't here from them I'll follow up with a phone call. After my last trip to south america last year, I'm hooked. Just want to make sure I get a reliable bike. Thanks again and will defintely let you know when I'll be in the area so we can meet up for a drink.

Motocare - great

I rented a Transalp for 5 weeks in 2006. Everything was made easy, including papers for visit to Chile.
Crashed the bike but got a free repair in Salta (I assume it was fairly cheap and accepted as not really my fault). It wasn't clear what was free and what was my responsibility but there was never a discussion about me paying.
Mariano is a great, enthusiastic guy, prices are very good, and my bike was new. At 5'9" I'm not tall but got used to the TransAlp after a few days.
Mariano offers good advice on maps, destinations etc.

See argentina_chile for some photos.
