any problems at the border if i left my bike behind in ARGENTINA?
 
hi, i was trying to sell my bike Suzuki GS500F 2004 in argentina but it is impossibleeee if you are not a resident :S well is not worth to ship back my motorcycle to Honduras. im trying to sell it for anyone who needs some parts (500 USD) i got a permission for the bike until august 2015. will i have any problem when crossing the border from Argentina-Uruguay??? will they ask me what did i do with the bike? has anyone done it?? THANKS

There can never be any certainty about what you might experience even when advice is based on the letter of the law, let alone when based on others' experiences, but it is extremely common for travellers to take advantage of the 8-month TIP to leave their vehicle there and go home for a few months. Most fly out, but others have taken a bus to santiago and flown home from there.

If you choose to never return then provided the bike isn't left where it is going to annoy anyone, nothing should happen.

BTW If you ask an Aduana official if what you propose is OK, you will likely be told that it is illegal. Don't ask, don't tell might be best.

If you want to return to Argentina in the future - after the TIP has expired - that might be a different matter because computers might have the data referenced to your passport.
