Anyone in Santiago?
Why aye lads 'n' lasses,
I should reach Santiago tomorrow and I'll be stuck for a few days while I get my rear shock rebuilt and have some stuff sent from home. Anybody fancy a beer or two? Duncan. |
Hi Dunch
i am a little behind you - in Osorno trying to see the puffing billy they call Puyehue. I am in two minds whether to hare up to Santiago or make a few diversions along the way. Where are you heading after Sanit? cheers Delb |
forgot to ask - where are you getting your shock done? My front has gone.
|
I will be heading to Mendoza from Santiago and then to Cordoba before heading north. The pass from Santiago to Mendoza is one bit of road I particularly want to ride, Paso de los Caracoles (Chile)
My shock is being sorted out by Moto Venturas, they have offices in Santiago and in Osorno, the Osorno office is located at S40 34.874 W73 06.416 They specialise in BMW and have a number of GSAs in stock so they may well have spares on site. I came past Puyehue on the way from Argentina, I didnt see much though due to heavy rain. All the best, Dunc. |
Hey Delb, where are you heading btw? Staying in SA or going north?
Dunc. |
Bugger. My rear shock has collapsed and is not fixable. The folk fixing my bike say they can get a new part but it will take 2 to 3 weeks for it to arrive.
I'm looking to see if I can find another shock in less time but I'm not holding out too much hope. Dunc. Stuck in Santiago needing tea and sympathy. :funmeterno: |
Duncan
I will be heading up from Pucon to Los Angeles tomorrow, still now sure when getting to Santiago tho. Have you looked in to buying the part in UK and having it UPS'd over? Might be worth putting the word out to see if anyone in heading north to share the ride with in the more difficult parts of Bolivia / Peru. I will be looking for a n other in early May for the same trip. Cheers Delb |
Hi Delb,
I've just bought a second hand WP shock from David Lambeth. It's getting sent by UPS and should be here in a few days. Things are looking up for me, not that there's anything wrong with Santiago but a month is too long to spend in one place. Dunc. |
Thats great news, i hope it finds its way to you quickly.
i will probably get to Santi monday evening so if you are still there Tues or later we can meet for a beer or 3 Delb |
Cheers Delb,
I'll look forwards to it. I'm staying in Provadencia but moving to another hostel today. I don't know if there is secure bike parking, PM or email me for coordinates though. Dunc. |
still in santiago?
hi dunch!
are u still in santiago? i´m looking for a bike (here or down south), maybe you´d like a bier or 2? i´m staying at a friend in providencia. this heat makes you a bit thirsty... cu nick |
Hey Nick,
What sort of bike are you looking for? Dunc. |
bike
hi dunc!
i´m looking for a small to medium size enduro, i´d like to go form santiago to sao paolo, via arg/chile/peru/bol/parag/bras, approx 8t km. i guess a 400-650 enduro would do the trick, like a suz dr650, kawa klr650 or bmw dakar (got one at home). but i´m not picky so any reasonable other choice would be ok. bikes in chile are really expensive, and to sell them again i would have to come back soon what i want to avoid. it should be less than 4000-5000$, depending what bike i get and the legal issue. at this price i can consider to leave it at some friends in sao paolo for the next trip :) thanx for some info! nick |
Hi Nico
I was at motoadventura yesterday with dunca. They had a few biks for sale one being a 650 dakar, well used but properly maintained i would guess. Can't remember the price. If you are still in Santi I am around (I think duncan left today) always happy to have a beer. cheers Dominique Gentillon Ejecutiva de Ventas / Sales Executive Motoaventura Center | Teléfono: 56-2-8914344 | Av.Kennedy 7686 - Vitacura - Santiago - Chile. Hi Delbert, are you living in Santiago by any chance? I've recently moved here and would be up for a wee drink beer
Spoke to a guy on a Dutch African Twin, going south, a few days ago whilst stopped at a red light... got me thinking about the HUBB and meeting some people. Shame I missed Duncan |
