Anyone selling their bike around December?

Hi There,

I'll be hitting Sth America late Dec early Jan and need a bike that can go the distance. Anyone looking to sell theirs around that time? (I may need two but one is a start).

Hope someone can assist.

Cheers.

Justin, I am in Costa Rica right now on my way to Ushuaia. I will be there around Christmas/New Year's. I might be interested in parting with my KLR 650. Stay in touch here. We will talk. Where are you starting in SA?

Your ride.......

Hey Rick,
Was thinking about starting in Buenas Aires as I have contacts there.
Can you give me some indication of the condition of the bike and what you'd want for it? You can email me directly if you wish at gravityfreak@hotmail.com.
Cheers,
Justin

Justin. It is a 2001, now with 24000 miles. Has most of the good stuff. Dohickey done before this trip. HT fork brace, skid plate, highway pegs, SU rack with panniers and top box. Corbin seat (flat). LR springs front. Stock rear shock. Blade fuses. Thre are MANY other things I am forgetting right now but you can have a look at it in my travel blog here on HU. Travelers stories, the Americas, Rick McDermed. Buenas Aires might be just perfect. Going there or Santiago after Ushuaia. I will probably look at trying to get $3000 or so. Make me an offer I can't refuse! :=)

G'day Rick.

Thanks for your reply. I assume the bike is registered in the US. Any idea how we would handle the transfer of ownership / registration if I bought it off you in Arg?

Hi Justin,

I will be traveling to Ushuaia on my Chilean registered Xt600e for Xmas New Year. I am interested in selling it early January in Santiago.

2004 model, will have about 85,000km, Hepco and Becker Panniers and tank bag. Pictures on my blog.

Since it is a chilean bike it will be a bit more expensive, but easy to transfer.

If you are interested, get in touch.

G'day Jens,
Mate, your bike has some serious miles on it. What condition is it in? I can't find a good pic of it in your blog - can you post a link to a pic hear please?. Finally - how much would you want for the beastie?

Justin, Yup, has a current California Registration. I have NO idea what the paperwork might be. I thought you might. There has been a thread for the past few weeks on the subject but I haven't been paying attention since I didn't think about selling my bike till you asked about a bike there. Let me know if you find out what might be involved!

Justin,

Originally looked like this:

http://blog.hinrichs.eu.com/blog/Pho...5/1982804.html
http://blog.hinrichs.eu.com/blog/Pho...5/1982831.html (don't worry about the oil drip - bolts need tightening every once in a while....)
http://blog.hinrichs.eu.com/blog/Pho...8/2039258.html

After not watching the road once it now looks like this:

http://blog.hinrichs.eu.com/blog/Pho...8/2063539.html
http://blog.hinrichs.eu.com/blog/Pho...8/2063632.html

The panniers, top case, and tankbag are in good nick and come with the bike. There will also be some tools and spares. Engine is running nicely and had new piston rings at 70,000 Km. It's getting a full service at the moment (including forks, carburettor, and new battery) and after that I will just go to Ushuaia and back.

I'm looking for USD 4,000.00.

I know it sounds expensive, but bikes are expensive in Chile (import tax) and the resale value is expensive, too. (sold the other one for USD 4,200.00 in the middle of their winter!)

PM me for more info...
