best place to ship to without a carnet ?
 

what's the best place to ship to in south america if you haven't got a carnet ?

have been shipping two bikes into south america.

a) caracas 1995:
time - 5 days
carnet - not asked for, bike stamped into passport
cost - high, agent essential

b) buenos aires 2002:
time - 4 hours
carnet - definitely not necessary, custom form sufficient
cost - low; no agent, little paperwork

Most travellers from the north ship into Quito.
