Best SA country to sell/leave bike
Excluding Colombia,Venezuela, Surinam and the Guianas, which SA country is the easiest to sell a bike so as to return home by airplane? Or, if I must just leave it, which countries would not give me a problem leaving without it?Thanks

I entered Paraguay via Brazil, and Paraguayan officials gave me no stamps or paperwork at all - they were not interested. So you might try that one out.

i sold my motorcycle in paraguay too. there was absolutely no problems about the papers. due to high luxury taxes in SA, the price will be even higher than in europe.

Muno, do you mind posting some details about selling your bike - what it was, how you found a buyer, the price, etc?
Cheers, JC |
yes, please send details. I might consider selling my bike in Paraguay also... a bit of competition! (: What I've found in most countries is that nationals won't buy a foreign vehicle because they can't get papers for it (nationalize it) without getting shafted by customs taxes, and they are not permitted to own a foreign-registered vehicle without nationalizing it. Obviously this really limits the potential market of buyers... basically you can only sell to another foreigner. Is this not the case in Para? |
you are right. the official way to make a motorcycle legal is to pay the tax. but what if someone just want to use the motorcycle on his farm? there are also a lot of other ways to leglize a registration. you can not compare paraguay with europe. (if you now what i mean)
just drop me a mail an i will mail you my friends e-mail address. ------------------ http://www.motorbike-tours.ch/Fotoseite.php |
