Bike insurance suggestions? - Chile and South America

I'm looking for suggestions about insurance for South America. I'm in Chile but will soon leave and spend time in most of the other countries around here.

Any info would be good. I know to travel to some countries you need to have international insurance to enter. If my bike is stolen, would these policies pay up? Should I just get cover for other vehicles, if this is even possible?

I rang a company this morn but got disconnected so many times I gave up and thought it best to ask here first.

My bike is worth about $3000 US.

Has anyone got experience with claims? Any good cheap options around?

thanks MB.

If your bike is only worth $3,000 you are better off without insurance. I would only get liability insurance required by the country you are in.

I bought mine here. Insured for Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina until 02-02-15, it cost around 70 GBP.

I followed a link someone posted here and just bought it - it looks like international insurance anyway :innocent:

Direct link - here -

Just put your info in, I had to google a few things. You need an address, but presumably you already have a RUT so use your details for that. I paid with VISA. They then send you a few emails containing PDF documents. Print these and you´re good.

Thanks for the advice guys.

RTW- that looks like what I need. I'll enlist a mate to help me do it tomorrow. Thanks for your prompt replies. I'll prob have more questions after looking at it further. I will PM you soon as I'm headed in the same direction and will only be a week behind you.
