Bike storage in Tapachula

Hi Guys
Just wondering if anyone knew of a place or storage warehouse where I could store our KLR for about 1 year in Tapachula, Chapis, Mexico. Myself and my girlfriend have been traveling through Mexico and plan to continue through Central and South America but have been offered work in Canada for a while and have decided to go up and earn some more cash before continuing south. This is a time sensitive issue as w fly out on June 2nd, anyone who could help us with this would be very appreciated.
Thanks Dan and Stace

You are welcome to store it at my place in Mexico City but I guess it is too far away for you. Try posting on Motolatino even if you have to do it in English. You have to bear in mind that your temp import permit will be out of date when you return. I think you can fix that up and get a 3 day permit to leave the country. I think you have to do that in Mex City.
Good luck!!

Bike storage in Tapachula

In Down town Tapachula is a very nice hotel. I think the name was something something Tapachula. I think it is the only 3 or 4 star hotel in town. It is 7 or 8 stories with an atrium in the middle. Any way. I stayed there in February with my bike and they have underground parking. Additionally they were very nice to me and wanted to do any thing they could to help. There were several recreational 4 wheelers and motorcycles being stored their.

Perhaps they can help you out.

Another option is over by the Home Depot there were many small industrial centers. Perhaps there could be a small business that would help you out.

I really liked Tapachula and spent several days their. If you stay a few days you might make some friends, just a thought.
Good luck,

Martin

storage

Thanks for the offer to store it in Mexico city and for all the very useful help and info you both gave me, I will look into the option of the hotel and even the area near home depot (I think I know the hotel you are talking about). As far as the temporary import permit, I have found a bit of loop hole with that one. Apparently if the vehicle is within 20 of the Guatemalan border it does not require any type of import, so I plan to cancel the one I have before I leave and then it should be able to remain there as long as needed.
Thanks again guys
Daniel

Hi folks, did anyone find storage in Tapachula as we are heading there in March and need room for 3 bikes for about 8 months.

Thanks!
