Bolivia Roads - La Quica to Sucre - Anyone driven it recently?
Hi all,
We`re in Salta and will be driving north to Bolivia in the next day or so. With the rainy season in play we`ve already had a few river crossings to deal with on some back roads (in one instance we had to be given a ride over on a digger). We want to get to Sucre where we will stay for a while until the rain subsides but we heard the roads are pretty bad right now. Does anyone have some up to date experience of the road? We know it will be slow progress but is it doable? Cheers Reece |
In Bolivia now. I did not do your route, but all is possible on a motorcycle. Make sure you have some profile on your tires though!

Reece,
I stuck to mainly Tarmac in that area. It was fine 2 weeks ago despite a lot of rain. Villain to sucre is all fairly n Tarmac. Sucre to Cochabamba was my next route but was advised it wasn't doable by locals so headed back to potosi then north to Oruro then la Paz. Others I met were heading south from la Paz to cochabamaba so but not sure if they managed it or not |
Thanks guys,
Now in Sucre, in case anyone wants to know from the border of Northern Argentina to Sucre is completely paved and good condition. Did it no worries! |
It did take about 4 hours to cross the border though, and we met a biker coming the other way and he had a similar wait.
