BRASIL - Motorcycle Rental?
 

Is it possible to rent a motorcycle in Brasil? I have 2 free weeks to go there and it just doesn't make sense to spend $1500 transporting it back and forth from NY.
Any ideas anyone?

Well, fwiw, I did a search of Google/Brazil and didn't have much luck. You might try the local BMW dealer (Officer BMW) in SP or the dealer in Rio and ask their advice. There are one or two tour countries that operate there also and you might contact them. My wife is from SP and we hope to retire to Brazil in about 7-8 years. You'll love it there.

They operate some MC tours here and may have or know of something.
There are some rental outfits in some of the beach resort areas but generaly rent smaller motorcycles.

Why spend the big bucks on a commercial tour when with some advance planning you can estabish the documentation necessary to purchase a bike here in Brazil and then sell it before you leave.. Several friends from Canada and Germany have done this very cheaply.. 3 months of riding for under $500. is a reality. It's gonna be quite difficult to rent a motorbike in Brasil, Which part are you going to?

You could buy one if were gonna be there for longer...

I actually talked to Ron directly about rentals. It seems from my discussion with him, and many, many others here and in Brasil, its almost impossible to rent one there. I guess there's not much of a market??
Unfortunately, I won't be there long enough to buy and sell one.
Still waiting to here from some trusted contacts in Brasil.
