Breakdown in South Brazil (Itajai)
Hi all, got a big problem with a bike part in the South of Brazil.
(I thought there was a different subforum for breakdown but couldn't find it.) I need a new stator for my KLR 650 2008 but it's almost impossible to find it. Tomorrow I'll call Kawasaki Sao Paulo and ask if they have the piece. Hopefully they are still open, not a great timing just before the holidays. If they don't have it, what should be my next plan of action. Find the piece online from a reputed dealer and have it shipped here with Fedex or something similar? Try to find a secondhand part on online marketplace may be an option, for could be very difficult for a rare bike as this one in south america. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm at a bit of a loss here. |
Try to get it rewound locally if you can.
Just make sure the wire size is the same :thumbup1: Good luck with it. |
Is it possible the a Gen I stator will work. It would open up the pool of possible donors.

If a rewinding is properly done, will it last a long time or do I have to keep looking for a replacement?
Some fantastic guys from a Motoclube here are moving heaven and earth for me to find a solution. What a coincidence I met them the day before, without them I would have been completely lost. People are awesome :thumbup1: |

I good rewind will do the job, trouble is finding someone to do it properly. If you need some more contacts to spread the coverage let us know. Best to getting sorted and Happy New Year Cheers Andi |
Just a little update to close this thread: got the rewire done and so far (1500 kilometers later) it looks perfect. Cost me a lot of money, about 200 euros. It would have been the same amount if I bought it in the states (109 dollars) and get it shipped, with import tax. But I'm on the road again, and that's the most important thing :scooter:
The repairs were made by the Kawasaki Garage in Balneario Camboriu, close to Florianopolis. The mechanic outsourced the rewiring to a guy he knows and installed it himself. He looked like a competent mechanic, although they don't get a lot of KLR's in Brazil. Matriz Speed Motors Kawasaki - Balneário Camboriú Avenida do Estado, 4220 | Centro Balneário Camboriú - SC |
