Buenos Aires Hostel for Moto People - Kilca
This is the best place in BA for moto people, and its very good value at $10USD per day. Kilca was great - its setup in a turn of the century mansion. I met the owner the first day and he let me store my motorcycle for free for a few days while I was away on the other side of the city. The open courtyards are fantastic, the wifi strong and the breakfast is quite good. Its a small place with just a few private rooms and big, fun dorms. This is not a party place but does fill up and has a mellow vibe where you can relax without much noise. The owner was super chill and allowed me to do moto repairs including oil change in the courtyard. Several other moto people were here and we had a super Asado with 10 people that was really super - no charge to use the excellent grilling facilites. I WOULD stay here again

Hi Alexlefur
Are there facilities for more extensive moto repairs please, or anyone who can help with releasing a bike from customs? Regards, Mick |

Kilca coords
Does anyone have coords they can post on for Kilca?

address
Stayed there for a week from 27/10/14, no co-ords but address is Mexico 1545, BA (Garmin finds it). Just a note, agree with most of the comments however while we were there the breakfast was rubbish, there was cat crap in the corridor, the roof leaked over one of our beds and the bathroom facilities were basic at best. Depends if it bothers you or not but it is cheap and trying to get secure parking in BA is very difficult, the Kilca has it just don't expect much for the price. Dakar Motos are great (Sandra huge help at customs) but they aren't really set up for serious stopovers, just a couple of beds next to the workshop. It is a 25 min train journey on the blue 'Belgrano' train line from Central BA. Nice suburb though.

I have to 100% disagree. Stayed there a few days ago for 1 night. Had to move out and go elsewhere. A complete sh!thole. Dirty, nasty, noisy until very late (including objectionable friends of the alleged sister of the owner: who weren't even staying there) and a really bad smell of gas that made me need to vomit. When I mentioned the smell of gas to the Frankenfurter-type from the Rocky Horror Show at reception, he said he knew about. I suggested he turn the gas off at the mains until it's fixed. He didn't bother. The concept of someone having a smoke in the kitchen and the whole place going up with a bang or dying of gas poisoning didn't register in his (chemically induced?) tiny mind. A place to avoid if you like hygiene and value your life. |
