Ah well, Waterfox. If you want to be taken seriously, you've got to post something more deserving than "truthfully, isn´t the place riddled with cockroaches and a bit of a dump?"

If, on the other hand, you are hoping *never* to be taken seriously, you seem to know how to proceed.

You know guys those dark bugs(and big ones) they are only garden instects.I have them on my garden and even on the nicest areas you will find them. They are not the kind you find on restaurants and hotels. They fly around and an open window or door.......you will find one for shure inside.
Enough on buenos Aires insects....funny this flame war member posted a link of those two guys from England who emulated the Che´s road.I remember his posts here and they where far from polite.
Have a look yourself
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...modation-40100

I met them at DM and Stephen is a good friend of mine since! For shure not a "zangano".

Instead of helping or pointing constructive coments......flame war!One against the other.

Enough said now.Brian asked and got what he was looking for.He even said he was very pleased. He is a newbie on travelling but has the propper attitud to become a great and humble one!

..the best.

when Simon and I first arrived in BA we stayed in the centre of the city in an OK but souless small hotel. at that time we were waiting for our bikes to arrive from South Africa by cargo ship.
We had not, at that time, become aquainted with Sandra and Javier at Dakarmotos.

After getting our bikes we ended up finding, meeting and then staying at Dakarmotors..Getting to met Sandra and Javier and their friends we tried hard to improve our Argentinian Spanish! We found the Florida area to be great area to stay and only a short hop to the centre on the local train! giving you even more opportunity to chat to the real Argentinians.

We have stayed in many 'different' places in our 8 years on the road as you can well imagine and most of the time we prefer to camp - stay in our own tent, which has become our home - however, for us, despite not being in our 'home', Dakarmotors was a great time. We made friends for life and are so looking forward to going back.

it is most definitely not a "place riddled with cockroaches" nor "a bit of a dump" ...it is a place where you are made to feel like a true friend, where the welcome is as warm as the the fires that cook their great asados and where laughter flows like the great Argentinian wines whilst you are with Sandra and Javier!

ohh..Ive come over all nostalgic!

other place to stay in BA

that's true, you can stay in Victoria hotel, Chacabuco 726, close to Independencia. Old but origonale building and cheap ( 90 pesos matr. with bathr of without 45 pesos ) and you have garage with surv. just across the street.... what do you need more ? Where staying here now, ending a trip of 4 months around AR,BOL,URU and CHI. We dont want to leave :(

We want to thank all the nice things that all of you tell about us. We know we are not the Hilton and don’t want to be it. We are just us trying to make our way of live in something we strongly fill is our passion, Motorbikes & Travelling and do the best to make easier and memorable your visit to our amazing country and beautiful city. We like to think we are, as someone tells us once “the home far from home”.
We never promote that Dakar Motos is the only place to stay in Buenos Aires; we have helped many people to find other places in the area or in downtown, Sitio oficial de turismo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires its good official site where to start looking for anything about Buenos Aires included accommodation.
We never use the HUBB to marketing ourselves, but if our visitors want to recommend DakarMotos, for us are great, that means we are on the right path.
All the opinions are respect, and for the ones that never have been here and want to get their own opinion, there is always coffee ready to come by. You are more than welcome.

No comment (Taking my own advice given by me to Waterfox in the past: If you have nothing positive to say, say nothing).

I look forward to visiting BA and Dakar Motors soon.

cheers
Chris

not positive, ie discussing the other side of the coin, can be usefull....another point of view to look at. You can bash me, but the idea is correct, that is what the forum is for, just give people ideas to help them along, if you don´t like the idea ignore it....

But seriously, if you travel to NY , NO, Paris, London, Barcelona, Rio, or wherever, don´t stay 15 miles out of town. If you can afford it, stay in the fun area, you never know if you will ever be able to visit that city again.
There is no way that I am going to go to a major fun city and stay so far that I can´t walk home when I´m drunk.
PS: If you don´t drink wine in Argie you are weird.

That is it, I know when a posting is Boooooring when Chris (I wish I were Dan Walsh) joins in and my beer is getting warm.

Have fun

I think you went wrong when you called Javiers place a dump. He and Sandra are good friends to a great deal of people on this forum and many class Dakar Motos as "home from home"..

If you called my home a "cockroach infested dump", I might get a little defensive too.

But yes you are correct, there are a great deal of places to stay in BSAS.

BCK_973 29 Mar 2011 03:19

You are correct Ted,there are to many places to stay in BA!In fact someone thinks that all go to DM? Noooooo. Every traveller looks for its own way.And when this choice is complicated they post here on the forum.Even many don´t know the HU site and get DM from other travellers and clubs as reference among other places too.
So did Brian and got was he was looking for.The other side of the coin?
To define fun or safety is not measured by km or citys or suburbs.
To close my posting on this tread i can only state what i know for fact!
To quote other people comments and never been actualy on that place.....far from serious......get yourself a life:palm:

sad...

Crikey mick guys! just jumped on since last net in BA(now in Bolivia...unBOLIVIABLE by the way!!!) and its sad to see a simple question has turned into a war. I havent bothered reading the last page because its all crap. Dont argue please. answer a question. keep opinions short and dont judge others. we all have our own tastes and reasons for our decisions.

Cheers and happy travels!
Rossy.

BCK_973 1 Apr 2011 02:42

Don´t worrie Brian, its all ok again. It was just one member.....and he got :ban:NED.Todo tranquilo. So you like Bolivia?Bike OK?Remember gas is not good.Low octanage......
Ride safe amigo:thumbup1:

brianrossy 1 Apr 2011 02:54

haha, gracias amigo! Bolivia is unreal!! first day today and so far absolutely amazing. Starting to see more of the typical southern america here. Best of luck with your travels too mate!

And the bike....no problems. Only tiny ones which pop up with every bike everywhere and are easily remedied!

Cheers,
Rossy.
