Buy a US Bike in SA and Photoshop Documents??
 

Hi there
i'm a Swiss and currently living in Bolivia. I'm looking for a Bike of a fellow traveler(from US, Europe or so) to keep on going with my travels direction south. So how is it with the Paperwork, would you Photoshop the Temporary Import and the Biketitle (vehicle registration certificate)? And when I as a Swiss will buy a Bike of a US...don't you think that look obvious faked? I mean I wouldn't have any Stamps in my Passport that proves I came down with this bike from the US. And why do you have to go with the previous bike owner to the Border? that looks even more suspicious to me....
What is the legal way to buy a Bike of a foreigner(US, European or so)and cross borders between Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Urugay?

You need to go to the border with the owner and he needs to exit that country with the bike and his documents. In no mans land you take the bike and enter the next country with your "new" documents.
There are quite a few posts on this subject but as its illegal, (even though many do it), you will get few responses on this forum giving you a detailed account on how to actually do it.
I suggest searching for posts and maybe PM those that have done it for detailed tips and instructions.

Also there are lots of posts regarding legally buying a bike, particularly for Chile where it is easiest. Its possible in Bolivia, Very difficult and not worth the effort in Argentina

Buying a a bike in Bolivia on a legal way is realy expensiv if you dont buy one of these chinese ones. So it looks loke i have to photoshop a little...heheh

I plan to sell my 2011 Suzuki DR650, titled in Texas, equipped for adventure riding, in September in Paraguay. I've heard that it is the easiest place in South America to get all the paperwork completed. The engine and suspension are stock. The modifications that I made to the bike were for protection, comfort and long range travel. I'm the original owner and bought the bike new, but it now has 23,000 miles. It is in great shape with only cosmetic scrapes. I've had no issues with the bike other than standard maintenance like changing the oil, filters, tires and spark plugs. I had a full tune up conducted at 20,000 miles by a Suzuki dealer in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

I'm asking US$6,500 with the many goodies.
