Buying a Bike in Brazil

Hey all-

I plan on arriving in Rio on or around June 8th and I was planning on buying a bike for my two month stint in Brasil with the hopes of selling it back at the end.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where or how to buy a bike in Rio? What about selling it back?

I would appreciate anyone's advice!

Many thanks!

you should know that bikes in brasil are very expensive. at least 100% more than what they would cost in the US. if you are planning on selling it after you are done with it then consider buying one of the smaller bikes 125cc or 250 cc. they only problems with those bikes is that they get stollen a lot and insurance is almost the same price of the bike. good luck in Rio!

Mate it seems buying and selling a bike off another traveller is the best option.

My companion is currently selling his bike in Colombia, I´ll be trying to sell in Argentina/Brazil in 3 months (too late for you).

Title documents can be easily fabricated.

Otherwise try a friendly dealer to see if they´ll let you rent something?
