Carnet for Europeans for Colombia?

Does anybody knows, if austrian motorcycles need a Carnet de Passage for Columbia? In May we will ship them from Hamburg to Cartagena. (I think americans doesn´t need a CdP.)

As far as I know, none of the countries of South America requires a carnet.

I went through Colombia a few years ago and didn't need one, and I have never heard of one being asked for.

Perhaps someone who has been through more recently can confirm?

Simon

Oh, by the way, there are a few people around who will give you a hard time for your spelling of Colombia, so be warned. :)

Thanks Simon! I think, we will try without CdI. It´s the cheaper way and we hope, they don´t make us any problems at the custom.

col...ombia - a here is my "tipex"!

No carnet for COlombia

Nope, dont need one.

Crossed the border into Colombia from Ecuador two days ago so the information is fresh.

You get a temporary import paper for the bike from Aduana in exchange for photocopies of all your documents. 30 minutes to do the paperwork, nothing searched, no hassles at all.
