Cartagena, anyone know somewhere to stay?
 

Hi, thought I'd posted this about an hour ago but it's disappeared!!! Try again.
We're a mature couple 2 up on a GS1200 in Medellin headed for Cartagena to catch ferryxpress to Panama. We're 5 months into a 1 year trip Ushuaia to Deadhorse. Can anyone help with ideas as to where to stay in Cartagena for about a week with safe parking for the bike? Struggling on the internet to find anything that isn't really expensive. Any good bike hostels or bike friendly places????

I stayed at Hotel Villa Colonial and recommend it. It's located at GPS coords: 10.423112,-75.544237. Cost was $COP80,000 with parking inside the lobby foyer (plenty of room for motos and they are happy to have you park inside). Safe/secure, clean hotel, good (but not free breakfast), excellent location in the center of town.

If you want something cheaper, the Amber Hostel is 1/2 block away located at
10.423267, -75.544709. I didn't stay there but heard it's decent and has secure parking.

Hi MotoMikey, many thanks for that. Actually we have been using your site in S America so many thanks for all your previous help! We saw your mention of Villa Colonial but weren't sure if parking for a moto was normal or they just did you a favour. Sounds like they may well be happy to accommodate our bike. We've emailed them to see they can put us up.
