Charging batteries
 

I've look thru equipment posts and can't seem to find the answer to a basic question. Other than a 12v plug attached to your bike, can travelers use available electricity in SA with 120v adaptors as I've used in europe?

If i understand you,you need to use a 110 volt equipment in a 220v zone?You need a transformator.Now the form of the plugs...you can buy those adapters on each country.Many times you find multiform sockets on the wall.

Think the biggest problem will be the cycle of the 110V AC. Is the system not 50cycle in UK. Think SA and know NA are on 60cycle

If it worked in Europe (from the USA) it will also work eleswhere.

Most of the world is now 230 +/- 10%.

If your 60Hz stuff worked with your adaptors on the European 50Hz then the 50/60 Hz question has been answered for teh gear you used.

60 Hz stuff when used on 50 Hz can (depends on its design) get hot. If you find it too hot - turn it off and let it cool before reuse.

All of North and Central Americas is 110/120v 60cycle. South America varies - it's either 110/60 or 220/50. For a chart go here.

All my electronic devices (mp3, camera, camcorder, etc) say they will work with any voltage from 110 to 240, and they have worked just fine all throughout the Americas. This should go for any modern electronic device... check your manuals.
