Chile Chico or Paso Roballes?
 

Im in Coyhaique now and plan on doing one of these. Does one have nicer scenery than the other? Difficulty and road condition?

Don't know about ChiliChico, but the other is a pretty drive on a reasonable road.
When we got to the border we turned south along the border to Lago Posadas and the scenery down to there was also interesting - and then east across to Ruta 40 at Caricoles

Mid december so you will need better info on road conditions than I can give you
