Chile Trip Jan/Feb - ride partners, feedback, advice
Hello Hubbers,
I'm embarking on my first ever foreign ride in two weeks, landing in Santiago on the 20th January. I'm hoping to buy/rent a bike in the first few days and slowly ride north from there up to the Atacama, picking up my girlfriend (and pillion) in Antofagasta on the 31st Jan and cruising around until I leave from Santiago again around the 20th of February. If anyone is in the area and would like to ride with a 28 year old spanish-speaking Brit just hit me up - it would be great to ride with some fellow Hubbers! I don't have a bike sorted yet so any advice on that would be welcome. Rentals I've seen are ludicrously expensive (~100usd/day). I'm happy to buy but I'm only here for a month and I'm a bit nervous about unexpected costs mounting up and blowing my budget. Does anyone have any idea of how easy/expensive it is to get insured in Chile? Is it realistic to buy a bike in <5 days at the beginning and sell it in <5 days at the end? Happy riding! Chris |

In Santiago on 20. February
Hi Chris
I read that you are leaving Santiago on February 20. I am currently in the south of Patagonia and if i dont find a bike here, I am coming to Santiago on Feb 19 to continue my search. Did you find a bike and are you willing to sell it? Mat |
