Chile / Valparaiso Customs
Here is the issue i am facing:
My motorcycle was recently shipped to Chile (Valparaiso) and is expected to be available for pickup in late November/ early December. I was supposed to be get there in February but it turns out May is the earliest i can get there. Now here are the two scenario I am looking at: 1) It seems like the bike will be auctioned if left at customs for 90+ days. But Valparaiso customs apparently outsources stuff to external warehouses with private owners. I have heard i can negotiate with the warehouse to keep the bike longer till May and figure things out when i get there. This will be ideal but want to get an evaluation of the risk here and if some one has interacted with these warehouses/Valparaiso customs before 2) I can try to go to Chile - get the bike out and store it in Chile. But then can I leave Chile and come back in May? Can the bike stay there - whats the usual temporary import permit duration. What other hurdles am I going to run across Seems like either way, i cant have a agent pick it up on my behalf. Is that correct? Need all the help i can get. Thanks in advance |

you can leave Chile again once the bike is stored but the bike can only be in the country for 90 days. So when you get back you are running into trouble.

is simpler, could remove the bike customs and then travel to Argentina uspallata, ques pretty close, back and would have 90 days to leave chile
if you are over 90 days delay, a fine is not high cobrra, unless justified that the bike was in repair Workshop need a document explaining that was damaged. if you need help feel free to comment me and help in Chile. Regards.: clap: |
