Chimbote to Yungay/Huaraz
Humm. Decisions.
Going south on the Panam. Has anyone recently been on any of the 'three roads' to Huaraz? Our options are either taking the Chimbote, or the cerro blanco/santa jacino roads to Yungay then onto Huaraz. Or the Pativilca/ Huaraz road. Which is best? (No Harry Hill jokes please). Thanks. |
the route through "El Pato" canyon is spectacular, no more than 60 kms of gravel from Chuquicara to Huallanca a lot of tunnels and beautiful landscapes, route is: Santa - Vinzos - Chuquicara - Huallanca - Caraz - Huaraz total distance is 250 kms
The other option is Huacatambo - Cerro Blanco - Moro - Pamparomas - Tocash - Yungay - Huaraz completly paved with a lot of curves, it`s around 226 km The third option is Casma - Pariacoto - Tinco - Huaraz totally paved with good asphalt and wide road, nice landscape of the Cordillera Blanca, around 140 km For me the 1st option is the best! Have a good ride and enjoy the route. |
