Crap......do I need a visa in advance for Paraguay?
Im a US citizen cirrently in Buenos Aires. I was planning on riding back to Lima starting tomorrow where I have a flight on the 15th of May. I really wanted to go through Paraguay, entering at Asuncion, and try to sell the bike there and ride west from there.
I didnt think about it until I heard that US citizens need a visa in advance. I had thought that it was more of a reciprocity fee that could be paid at the border. I dont really have time to wait for a visa to process. Can anybody offer any current information? Thanks for any advice! |
No specific advice, other than it looks like you need one in advance: Paraguay. It should only take 24 hrs to receive visa in Buenos Aires: Preguntas Frecuentes | Embajada del Paraguay
Good luck! |
probably...
As a US citizen you can get a visa on arrival and pay the $160 fee if you fly into Asuncion. Several sources mention the need for a passport photo. I think it would be worth your while to swing by the Paraguayan embassy for a chat while you are in BA or try calling. Try calling in advance, if only to make an appointment and check their hours.
Visa policy of Paraguay - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Visa on arrival Citizens of the following countries may be granted a 90 day visa on arrival if arriving at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport only. They must pay a reciprocation fee when entering Paraguay. Otherwise, the visa must be obtained prior to arrival.[3]

You already know the answer: you need a visa in advance, and your easiest bet for getting it is right there in B.A. Asking here won't change that.
It's simple enough--same day service, cash USD accepted. When I did it they weren't making appointments--just show up with photos, cash and a modicum of patience. Enjoy, Mark |
Cool. I have heard or read about 6 different cost numbers for the visa from $65 to $160 and several in between. What is the cost for a single entry visa?

I searched around to find the details above, and did not see any mention of single or multiple entry visa fees. I think you are stuck paying $160 (USD.)
Paraguay is the only country I have not visited in South America. Its on my list for the next trip. |
Thanks guys.......should have taken care of this earlier!
Im skipping Paraguay and doing a mad dash back to Lima to catch a flight on the 15th of May. And trying to sell the bike along the way....:helpsmilie: |
