El Calafate Argentina Rental?
 
Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Argentina Sept. 10-23 (Buenos Aires) and would like to do a motorcycle self-tour of the Patagonia area. Because I only have 2 weeks for vacation, the tentative plan is to fly from Buenos Aires to El Calafate and then rent a bike there. Can anyone recommend any motorcycle rental shops in El Calafate? (I haven't had any luck finding one on Google). Alternatively, I could fly to Rio Gallegos (are there any shops there?)

Rio Gallegos is a much better bet than El Calafate. I spent 10 or 11 days in El Calafate last year and I'm certain there wasn't a bike hire place there then. I struggled even to get chain oil it's so moto-unfriendly!

Probably your best bet is to contact the El Calafate community for info,

I would also try Rio Gallegos. I know I saw a motorcycle rental place in El Calafate that was renting a F650gs but I would not rent it from there. El Calafate is way too touristy and has hardly anything in the way of motorcycle shops.

Thanks for the responses! I have send messages to the community and hope to hear back soon. Are there any other cities I should consider flying into from Buenos Aires to rent a motorcycle for Patagonia/Torres Del Paine area?

I met a guy in a restaurant in El Calafate who works for a place that does guided motorcycle trips in the area. He gave me a card that has this email address: motoguiadacalafate 'at' yahoo 'dot' ar
No idea if they rent bikes as well.
