Getting a motorbike licence in SA?

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a motorbike licence in any of the south american countries on a tourist visa? From my research, some posts have stated you need to be a resident. However, there are several posters that have successfully managed to get a motorbike licence whilst in SA. Sadly, many of the posts dont post detailed information on how/where to do it.

One of our passengers on the back of the bike would like to take a motorcycle test if possible. Preferably in Peru or bolivia as its our first destinations. However, we would gladly like to hear if there are other countries too.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can definitely get one in Paraguay, although not entirely legally. In Asuncion they will ask you for a residency visa but if you take a half-hour bus ride to another municipality they won't know about this rule. You probably won't even have to take a test. I don't know if this license will be good enough for your insurance company though in case of an accident.
