Hostel with secure parking in Buenos Aires
Good evening,
I am looking for recommendations of good hostels or guesthouses with secure parking for motorbikes in Buenos Aires - can anyone suggest a place? Our trip is looming... I can't believe we could be there in a month and a half! :mchappy: Hope you have some suggestions. Many thanks, Anna |
Hostels with parking was a challenge for us in buenos aires. We stayed for a while in the hotel bolivar in San telmo, they didn't have parking but they were right beside a parking garage. Be careful , there are a lot of parking garages but some are not open weekends.

Palermo Hostel
Greetings Anna
In 2014 I stayed at Hostes Guemes Y Oro in the Palermo district. The basement has a ground level entrance on Guemes. There's enough space to park a bike, or two bikes if they are very friendly. I did a service on my bike while I was there. I don't have details but try sending them an email and ask if it's still available. You might need to remind them about it, it was only when I went back the second time that the guy behind the desk showed me where I could park. If you look on google maps street view you can see the hostel and the basement doorway on Guemes Also I just remembered contact Ed at www.Xfiltrate.com - Professional Motorcycle Parking He has a bike parking business. He was very helpful to me and other friends while I was in BA. Good Luck Ian J |
Hola Anna,
Some friends and I stayed at a place called Kilca Backpackers in Buenos Aries with our motos in early April. They had a secure courtyard you could ride into from the street. Great old colonial place in Monserrat - close to San Telmo and centro. It did need a little love but they were doing renovations when we were there. So hopefully place is now looking sharp and fulfilling its potential. They were adding private rooms I believe. Maybe get in touch with them and see if they still have moto parking and what options there are. It needs renovation because it can't get any worse than it was. The "manager" reminded me of Frankenfurter off the Rocky Horror Show |
Good morning
Thank you for your replies! Memo-p - thanks for your suggestion. How did you find the garage - was it very secure or were you worried about the bike all the time? BruceP - thanks, I've read about Dakar Motos but wasn't sure about the place because of the very mixed reviews. Did you actually stay there and if so, how was it? IanJ - thanks very much! I will contact the hostel. The parking business is a great idea - it never occurred to me to Google something like that! :thumbup1: Brownbear75 - thank you for your suggestion. Secure courtyard does sound good! Chris - sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with this hostel. Was the garage beside the hotel you moved to secure? We have never ridden in South America before hence a little nervous about keeping our lovely little bikes safe :scooter: :scooter: Anna |

Sandra organised the shipping out. We stayed about 3 nights, hostal accommodation was very basic , but very cheap :-) We stayed there in 2011 It all depends on what you want. |

Can't remember exactly (would require effort on my part), but he's appeared here with at least 4 different aliases. Ding dong, Charlie (not Hebdo) Javier and Sandra are super people who offer great friendship and service (so say the 99%)... |

They are great for arranging bike flights, but the hostel is gone. |

I wasn't worried at all. There was always a big angry man in the entrance booth , and you couldn't see my bike from the street. |

Even if at first glance it looks like there's no obvious bike parking it's worthwhile asking. They might have a lockup area nearby or I've ridden the bike through the front door and parked in an inside courtyard or the brekkie area. You'll be surprised how narrow a door can be when you want to get a bike through :smile2: Attachment 18237 Attachment 18236 https://goo.gl/photos/H5A8fVfXK9fFwTQB8 |

Brilliant photos Ian! :-) As we are starting our trip in BA I want to make sure I have a place with secure parking booked before we get there (I'm very precious about my beastie you see) :D I'm sure I will be less worried once on the road :smartass: haha! |
Thanks
I think I did about a 5000 point U-turn to get the bike lined up facing the doorway to get out of that courtyard. :smile3: |
Stayed in Kilka hostel, in Monserat neighborhood, in September 2012. The courtyard is safe, but the place was dirty.
In January 2013, we tried Puerto Limon Hostel, in San Telmo. Plenty of space for the bike, eventhough it can get crowded and not be a quiet place. Very clean, very friendly staff at that time. |

I was in Buenos Aires in March. I stayed at two places, one was the hostil closest to the airport. Both places had no secure parking but they let me park next to the front door. I covered the bike and had no problems at all.

Had NEVER a problem recomending Puerto Limon. Puerto Limon Hostel San Telmo Great pleace, close to the San Telmo Market and Plaza, full of great people and with some place for the bikes. If you're around Buenos Aires, and you need some help just send me a PM. H |
