Hotel near EZE international?
Can anyone suggest a reasonable place, (hotel, hostel etc...) near the Ezieza International Airport? I will need to base myself there for a couple of days while look after customs and importation of my bike from Canada.
Most hotels seem to be right in Buenos Aires, and at $35-40 one way in a cab, trips too and from the airport could get quite expensive and time consuming. Thanks, Mike. |

When will you be arriving in BA? My ride partner and I will arrive Feb 2 from Toronto, the bikes should arrive same day...we'll see! |

What is your planned route? All the way South, then All the way North? Or just an out and return type trip storing the bike at the end? I'll be picking up my bike Jan 20-21st, so I will be a few days ahead of you depending on your route. Would be nice to share part of the ride, PM me after you get on the road with your whereabouts. BTW, I've not had any luck with Dakar Motos by e-mail either - I've read here that the only reliable means of contact is by phone, but also that they are following the Dakar Rally in January (i.e. right now!) |

Just turn up at Dakar Motos. You can camp in the garden if the bunks are full, and if Javier and Sandra are away the other moto travellers there will take you on trust. Maybe one of them would run you to EZE as pillion? This would be A) convenient and B) the scariest part of your trip! From my own experience the formalities at EZE took four hours, including putting the bike back together, so you should easily do it in one visit once the bike's arrived. Suerte, Mick |

Would you happen to know what the hours of operation at the aduanas are at EZE? I'm assuming that it's not a 24hr operation, but my bike arrives at 16:30 to the cargo terminal and it would be nice to pick it up the same day although I imagine that's impossible. Mike. |

It was '03 when I was there, the bike arrived on a Sunday: everything was closed. On the Monday it was normal working hours with no siesta break, as I recall. There's a petrol station in walking distance if you've had to drain your tank for transit - take a container to fetch some in. After wintry England the 40ºC heat in the customs shed was almost intolerable, especially in riding gear. The area around EZE isn't the most salubrious so ride a few klicks down Ruta Tres before stopping overnight, then it's on to Azul and La Posta. Enjoy! Regards, Mick |
