How best to avoid Columbia?
I'm going south through Central America and want to continue through to South America. However, I have promised that I will avoid Columbia... Any suggestions on how best to do this within a reasonable budget? Ideally I'd like to take a boat round the coast from Panama which would seem reasonable, but I've no clue further than that..
Anyone done this or about to do this and have a good suggestion? |
Hi there,
Forget boats, from what I hear, they're much more trouble than they're worth. Air is the way to go. Surf around on this page, there's heaps of good info, esp. under "shipments by travellers" but also in travellers stories. I shipped around Columbia, from Panama to Quito by air, cost was $350 for the bike, $300 for me and we were there the next day. Very easy. Arne |
That sounds good. Who did you use?

It was a company called Panavia. Most other shippers were comparably priced, we just shopped around a bit at the freight terminal at Tocumen (Panama). Most shippers are within walking distance of each other. We flew with Copa airlines after dropping the bikes off.
Good luck. |
You could always stay at home, Ian. Arf.

You reached Guatamala yet Dan? Or are you still writing?
