In with one out with another?

so my friend is offering me the opportunity to ride his bike from BA to chile next year. here's the deal"

he is shipping into chile from nicaragua and riding to BA. from there he will have to fly back to nica.

i am wondering if i could fly to BA and ride his bike back to chile without running into 7000 complications.

thoughts?

Borders are a lot easier when all the paperwork matches. Ownership, passport and drivers licence all with the same name.

If he draws up a legal poder in your favour, you can use it together with his paperwok to exit Argentina and enter Chile
Obviously his paperwok must be all still valid or you will be subject to fines at the border

so, safe to assume that re-entry into CHile with the poder would be problem free, as well as exporting back to nicaragua?

Nicuragua? Where did that spring from?

exporting by land or sea or air,

You can get the poder - or actually, the proper owner can get the poder - through Chris Torlasco at Andeanroads.com who has a friend in the business and is the one we used for our poders. Not so cheap though - maybe 1300 arg pesos

the group is from nicaragua. they'll be shipping by sea to chile and the reverse on the return.

I've seen this question raised a few times, but don't recall seeing a resolution. You would expect a poder to cover it, especially if it specifically mentioned the sea export (and it can include any terms and conditions you want as long as they are legal acts), but you would need to check with the shippers and the destination country, just because not all countries will accept a poder from other countries even in the americas eg Peru, and even then, sea or air shiping involves different laws.

I would ask your friend to go to a notaria in Chile AND Argentina.
He will need your pasport number and full name, it will cost a few pesos and maybe 40min. waiting in each notaria. They might also ask for a copy of all important pages of your passport. If I do so with my chilean ID they ALWAYS want a copy and they always want it "ambos lados", both sides.

Use the arg. poder on the arg. side and the chilean on the chilean side.
