leaving argentina and leaving a broken bike .. how to ?
 

has anyone left argentina before and left their bike . mines dead as a dinosaur and i want to leave it here in ushuaia and just fly home. immagracion entering record that i was entering with a bike on the computer so looks like i cant just leave the bike in the dublin bars car park and slip through customs out of argentina and fly off..... have aduana got a compound for this type of thing or what ? im fading away down here ! arghhhhhhhh !! :eek3:

That happend here all the time.How long is your temporary importation?
Try of course to leave the bike with intention to come back before the limit expires.......
If you are going to abandoned it try to find a good home for it.
I never heared before someone got on hold at airport because of leaving the bike......behind(sad to do).
If they ask just tell you need to pick up "repuestos" some spares....:(

I left my bike in Argentina 2 years ago, I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. Took the money and purchased a plane ticket home, and was never questioned about the bike. That may change if I ever make it back, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

When I flew out of BsAs, the subject of my bike never came up. If you are sure you will never go back to Arg, don't worry about it. If you do plan to go back it would be worth looking into what you have to do , to leave the bike legally.

What type of bike do you have / what's wrong with it?

I know this is a totally different country, but: Years ago, when Mexico required that you provide a deposit to ensure you left with your vehicle and didn't abandon it down there, I reported it stolen with the police and then left with no problems.
