Long term parking for my van in Rio ?
 

Hi all!
I'm traveling South America in my 4x4 van, a Mitsubishi L300.
After 5 months now I will have to go back home till around the end of septmber.
I like to keep the van here in Rio De Janeiro and need a safe spot for parking. I was thinking rather of someone private with a yard or further in the countryside on a farm...of course I will pay for the space....or maybe any other suggestions? like a car dealer who would be willing to rent some space??? does anyone have an idea or knows a place around Rio???
I would also rent a garage in town if the prize is reasonable....

I fly out of Rio next saturday on the 25th. Could leave latest onthe 27th if i really have to. I can of course also drive the van to Sao Paulo or elsewhere if I have a place there....thanks heaps for helping! I hope to hear from yopu again.

Compared to Sao Paulo, the prices are similar.

Be aware of the limit of time the vehicle can stay in Brazil. Upon entry you receive 3 months and this you can extend before the 3 months are over with another 3 months. After that you will have to move the vehicle out of the country otherwise suffer the consequences.

1) I have had no reply from any guy in Rio de Janeiro;

2) I have a place that I can share. It is at my grandmother´s yard, in Avare, SP, a small town, 700 km far from Rio de Janeiro and 800 km far from Foz de Iguaçu (BR);

3) I think that you shall spend something about R$400,00 - gasoline, tolls, etc - if you want to drive your van from Rio to Avare; 6 h travelling from Rio to Sao Paulo; 3h from Sao Paulo to Avare, and again the way back to Rio.

4) Mailking - above - is right. You have to beware about your van. Ken and Carol Kenneth - I met them in Sao Paulo, when they were here - had the same issue.

5) If you want to leave your van in avare, please reply this message until wednesday.
