Looking to buy bike in Argentina: Suzuki DR650, Yamaha XT600E, Honda XR650L

Hi all,

In March 2009 I will be in Argentina and in the market for a bike to tour on.
From what I've read I'm looking at these bikes;

Suzuki DR650
Yamaha XT600E
Honda XR650L

I'm going to be touring round South America for about a year,
and will have a passenger for at least part of that.
(I'm 6ft, 69kg and will have a girl on the back)

First off - any other suggestions of suitable bikes?
Will all 3 listed above handle 2 lite people?
I just want something cheap, reliable, and basic.

So has anyone got a bike for sale that might be suitable for me?
(It doesn't have to be in Argentina - Brazil, Uruguay etc are fine)

I'm pretty clueless about touring bikes,
fell in love with Enfields in Northern India in 2008
But just starting to figure out what bikes /
permits are needed for Sth America

Any help would be much appreciated.

Potential new or used buyers in Argentina

Demunted, please read my last post regarding potential foreign tourist buyers... and post your request at :

Buy new or used in Argentina and legally tour all of South America ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page

People like you can help us get the law clarified that regulates a foreign tourist exiting Argentina with an Argentine registered bike.

Thanks, you are a perfect example of what is needed.

Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.
