Looking for a cheap bike in Lima
Hi,
First of all, I don´t know how to ride a bike! I´m entirely new to it. I´m looking to buy a bike in Lima in order to drive down to argentina. I have been advised to get a KLR 650 or a Honda Falcon/ Tornado.. What advice can you give me for buying a bike in Lima or Huancayo? Or do you know of any for sale? |
From my research, none of the bikes you mentioned come under the "cheap" category in Chile.
The chinese Models are much cheaper and have reported reliability issues. You might try a Euromot 200cc which a few people have written about on the forum as being a better option among the cheaper biles. Try [url=http://www.chileautos.cl]Chileautos.cl: miles de veh |
Um, you'll need to know how to ride a bike and have all the appropriate paperwork for if you get stopped by the police and for crossing borders...
I'm very enamoured of my Honda Tornado 250, which has all the oomph required to get around Peru, Bolivia and Chile (I've put about 10,000km on mine in those countries) and would recommend it. The police use them and there's spares all over. Dunno about Peru but in Chile mine cost 2,000,000 Chilean pesos - roughly $3,600 US. Don't know if that falls into the "cheap" category... |
Have a read of this.

P.S These people have Euromot/Quingqi machines:
GP MAQUINARIAS - Éxitos en tu camino And get your SOAT (compulsory third party insurance), gives you free hospital treatment - in the event of traffic accidents, don't think it covers sunburn, food poisoning, chalfonts, etc. Ian |
