Looking for a good Tyre shop, Lima, Peru?
We are in Lima, Miraflores district for a couple of days, anyone recommend a good place to buy and fit a front 21 in tyre ?
|
this might help
i got a new set of tyres from a shop (cant remember the name), a honda dealer, just north of parque central, miraflores... just walk north to the roundabout at the top of the parque, take the 3rd exit (east) up rciardo palma, take the 3rd on your left named Ugarte, then lastly take the next right and the dealership should be on your right, next to the paseo de la republica freeway.... they had a good selection of tyres... this was back in 2008.. im sure i had a 21" on that bike.

Nice One....
Hey Siggsy, Thanks! :thumbup1:
The Honda shop was 3 blocks away from where we are staying!, good selection of parts and Pirelli tyres(only), got a 90/90-21 MT 60 for $45 USD, $5 to fit. (I wish Blackfoot in Calgary could match that price!!!) They also have 120/130 17/18 MT60/90's and MT 21's in stock Heres the address: Desert Sport Racing S.A.C. (Narcisco de La) Colina 480 y Ugarte, Miraflores, Lima Desert Sport Racing Tel No's: 241-0484 445-0462 445-9683 447-4331 I called the KTM dealer in Lima, they have Continental TKC 80 fronts @$81 |
Pirelli MT60 MT90 Tyre Prices Lima 2012
Greetings,
I too would recommend Desert Sport Racing, I dealt with them recently and was pleased. More details in my post here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...667#post397414 They have a decent Pirelli selection. Tyres here (Peru) are very reasonably priced, slightly more costly than in Bolivia though. Here are the prices in Soles quoted for Pirelli MT60 and MT90: MT90 Scorpion 120/90/17 (64S): 215.35 MT90 Scorpion 90/90/21 (54V): 142.57 MT60 90/90/21 (54T): 137.05 MT60 120/90/17 they did not have. Changing the tyre was an extra 20 Soles. Another shop further North I found but didn't deal with was: LIMA HONDA PARTS SRL (Francisco Leonardo Cruz) Prolongacion Iquitos 1469, Paso de la Republica 1448 - Lince, Lima Tel: 2651708 Cel: 9941-66302 Cel: 9993-69486 email:limahondaparts1@yahoo.com They said they stocked Pirelli MT60/MT90 tyres. |
Finally i found the right size...
Hello,
today i tried to find tires in size 110/80-19 (and 150/70-17) here in Lima, so i went to the shops you guys mentioned here. The BMW-Dealer wanted to charge 195$ just for the front tire (TKC80), and i think thats way to expensive for the few thousand kilometers i can get out of it. So i went to Desert Sport Racing and it is good store, but unfortunately they didn't had the right size. Then i went to Lima Honda Parts SRL, but same: not the right size for me. KTM: same, not the right size in stock. But then: Bacacchi (or similar) is a big store with lots of parts and stuff and they had the right size! So i bought a Shinko Trail Master for 90 $. Adress: Petite Thouars, 43 Cuadra I have not bought a rear tire, i hope i can make it to Santiago de Chile... |
Desert Sport Racing Tyre update June 2015
Quote:
Just thought I'd pass on that Desert Sport Racing in Lima no longer fit the tyres they sell. Paid about $90 for a Pirelli Scorpion 120/80 18 rear. Sent to Av Panama Av to find a motorcycle shop to fit it, and paid $7 at a Honda signed shop at 4282 Av Roosevelt (which turns into Av Panama to the North). Lovely people, and the manager was keen to chat and practice his (good) english. |
was at desert sports recently (bout 2-3 months ago) and got a pirelli MT 60 for the 1200 GS.
@monni: running the MT 60 as a rear tire o.k. so far (tubeless on a R1200GS, the 140 size instead of the 150), no issues, no leaks. otherwise you can always go to TT peru, they have heidenau too (can only dig the front tire, which is expensive but lasts forever). |
For other travellers who might not know:
The TT shop in Peru is actually a great place to go. It is more than just TT. They have a garage and can do service on your bike. The owner is Ivan, does a lot of touring everywhere himself. So he can help you with all kind of things. He speaks perfect english. |
I would recommend Touratech in Lima. Good guys and good service. I imagine their new workshop would be open now. We purchased tires from them last year.
