Lowest budget from California to Argentina
 

Any idea about how to get to Argentina with $1000?
I need to be in my sister wedding on april 24.
I have a Suzuki Bandit 600cc and extremly adventurose?
Open to any sugesstion.
Willing to sale the bike to come back.

I've priced a 20,000km trip at 1000$CDN in fuel alone. This would be from Sudbury to Laredo, then around the cost of Mexico, Belize, Honduras, (everywhere else no Carnet is needed) Guatemala, Mexico, Baja, Laredo, Sudbury.

Based on 1.50US/Gal in the States, 2$US/Gal in Belize, 75Cents/Litre Canadian in Canada and 75Cents/litre US everywhere else. I hope to get about 6 litres/100km. All of my prices are a little high just to cover extra gas spent tooting around towns after arrival at the end of each day.

What is the current price in Mexico? Two years ago the price was quite good and we were filling our 60 litre tank in a van for about 300 pesos.

.........current price across the street from me here in mexico city is 6.54 pesos per litre. it goes up 2 centavos each month without fail. pemex, the monopoly, has the same price at every station throughout mx. you can do the currency math. OP......you need to wheel it, deal it, or steal it to make it happen. best to consider the unexpected WILL happen. K

Aside from taking public transportation the whole way at the cheapest possible fares, I think your only other alternative is to go as far as you can then sell the bike for cash, then use public transportation.

Your second option is to try to find a robust travel partner to ride on the back and share costs.

Lastly, I've always found it's pretty easy to find well-off backpackers who are willing to pay good money for you to drive them places. Basically, become a one-way hired hitchhiker's host. Most people who aren't fluent in the local language and have been away would enjoy the conversation. I think there are a lot of people who would pay a premium to avoid taking a claustrophobic bus and ride adventurously as an alternative. I know I'd consider it.

one other important consideration $$$$..........tolls are the same for bikes as cars. from t.j. to oaxaca city, one way is 1788 pesos. you could take the libre cuotas to avoid the expensive tolls around toluca and cuernavaca, but it really is not worth the effort unless you enjoy sucking diesel fumes from all the slow moving trucks, poorer road conditions and congested traffic. calculate fuel at 0.50 usd a litre for 15.000km, eat cheap, sleep in your tent at petrol stations, dont use toll roads, get somebody on the back to share fuel costs ...

... maybe try a sailboat panama colombia ...

bargain for every dollar, you can sell your bike in bsas and fly back for this money

most important - learn spanish ! or your 1000USD are gone in mexico city

Anybody have any idea about air shipping cost, including customs paperwork, from Miami to either Lima or Sao Paulo? The way I'd avoid Mexico's tolls.
